Safeguarding Children

MYFC | Football for AllMYFC take our responsibility to safeguarding the children playing football for MYFC very seriously.

We have a club welfare officer, Angela Paddon, who can be contacted if anyone – players, parents or coaches have any concerns about something that they have seen or heard during training or matches. The club welfare officer can be contacted on cwo@myfc.me.uk. Please don’t hesitate to contact Angela if you have any concerns at all about any child welfare matters.

All coaches, managers and parent helpers have an FA cleared criminal record check BEFORE they are permitted to coach children. This is a process to identify if anyone has a previous conviction. The FA, rather than clubs locally, authorise who can coach. As Marlborough Youth is a chartered standard club, all coaches, managers and parent helpers also have to complete some training. This training includes: safeguarding, emergency 1st Aid, FA coaching level 1.

The club also have a set ratio of adults to children when coaching. This ratio is 1 adult to 8 children and there must be at least 2 adults at any one training session. Coaches are not permitted to coach alone or with anyone who hasn’t received an FA authorised check.

The FA also takes child welfare very seriously and more information can be found at http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/safeguarding
